My last kitchenaid range was the 36" but my new kitchen has a smaller island so we had to downsize. I do not miss the extra 6" at all. This range has plenty of room and works great.

I bought KCGS350ESS last year. I wish I had my GE gas on glass top back. I bought this because I had previously owned a KA refrigerator I did like and since GE had sold out appliance division, thought I'd try the entire line of KA appliances. The stainless steel of this is so fragile it scratches practically if you breath on it. The iron grates look nice but just aren't as good as the GE, these seem rough and gather lint from anything you use to wipe. The grates seem too high for the burners so it takes a long time to get things going, and then there is not enough difference from low to high heat. And finally, the parts that make up the burner just seem cheep, impossible to keep looking clean and again the finish is ruined if you need to clean off anything from a boil over...
The GE burner parts seemed so substantial and fit together interestingly, felt very secure, like puzzle pieces you could feel fit together right. The KA burners on this model seem to teeter over the gas jets. It does not feel secure at all. But the worst part is that when you have any boil over, there's no way to get the cuffs looking clean again, the cuffs aren't protected so things just burn on and you can't get it off without ruining the finish.

This stovetop does a great job cooking. My only negative comments are the design of the front cooking grates does not support a small pot well...you need to be careful when balancing on the burner. Also I worry that the painted marking on the burner knobs will not last through cleanups...that is what happened to my old GE stove top. This one hopefully will retain the high low markings...

I've been using this cooktop for only three weeks, but love it so far. I didn't think I'd like it better than my old Jennair, but do. The simmer burner has a flame low enough to actually simmer without getting too hot, while the Jennair did not. There is enough space between the burners to use them all at once if I need to, as long as all the pots aren't large. I had seen reviews that complained about things taking too long to boil because the grates are so high - I have not found that to be the case; Maybe it's because I had it professionally installed, and the flames were properly adjusted. At any rate, I've noticed that all cooktops now seem to have high grates.
If I'm using a griddle, I do have to put it at a slant so that it doesn't get too close to the knobs, but that's not a big deal.
The stainless steel looks good but it does take more care to keep it from getting scratched.

we got this unit 5 month ago along with new Kitchen aid built in oven (Oven glass blowup last month during self-clean) so we have our fair share of Kitchenaid excitement.
At the same package we got Microwave and DW (still holding so far)
Please read below my quick summary review of this cooktop.
Pros: feel solid
Looks great and stylish
Solid knobs and very comfortable
Easy to install
Cons:
Bad quality stainless steel (starts to change color and have funny spots all over the surface and very easy to scratch, we are so carful during cleaning but still scratches are all over the place)
Grids are very high it is 1 1/2 space between burners and rack, See attached a picture of Samsung cooktop as you can see it is 7/8 distance not 1 1/2 as for the Kitchenaid.
Flame are noisy and not hot, and any burner expect the middle burner takes FOREVER to cook or boil
( our Gas bill used to be average $35 to $40, now we are between $89 to $103 per month.
The front R and L burner are soooo weak
Not recommend this for any household used to cook all the time, this unit is for looks only, and not for day to day house use. We replaced the old GE with this one, but honestly, it is not fair to compare it with the old unit we used to have, yes, it is more modern and stylish but for durability it is a big failure and disappointment.

I am very happy with my new Kitchen Aid gas cooktop. It looks beautiful in my kitchen. The materials are high quality. I find that I have a good range of intensity of heat when I am cooking on the appliance. The continuous grid is great for moving things around if needed.

This cooktop replaced our old electric cooktop. Couldn't be happier with this new one. It has plenty of heat to boil a large pot of water quickly and the simmer setting is low enough to keep something warm without burning anything in the bottom of the pot.

I love the look and features. I have had trouble adjusting the flame, setting from very low simmer to high.
Also not as east to clean as you have to remove all the grates to clean one section.

Very elegant looking oven at medium-range pricing.
Burners are good and of different strengths.
A major limitation, perhaps due to design fault, is that the grates slide off the base ever so easily. We have had hot food spilled several times. It is a safety issue, besides causing mess.
Otherwise I would have given a 5* rating.

It has been around 6 weeks that we installed this cooktop. So far it has provided positive experience, with a just few negatives.
Pros:
- 5 burners of various strengths
- Nicely designed and optimized layout
- I researched many competing models, but not too many others in the industry have knobs that are built of solid metal; also the knobs are nice-looking.
- Continuous grate is helpful
Cons:
- The specs as written (also as I was given to understand by tech support team) requires a little wider slot for installation. I was going nuts trying to get outside contractors prepare a larger hole than my prior cooktop cutout. That is a bigger project than one can imagine.
However, good news is that I did not need to do that. I wish the specs were more accurate, also wish that the customer support team actually had taken the effort to provide correct requirement to me. (It would have relieved me of additional time that was not necessary.)
- One major design flaw we find in that the grates (solid and heavy) keep sliding off from its designed location. any little grease or oil on the surface dislodges these grates. And, they are not easily re-positioned. I wish they were designed with better way to remain in place.

I've had an electric cooktop for years & was always frustrated by the lack of heat control when cooking or canning. Gas is the only way to go and my new KitchenAid installed on a large center island provides me with the perfect combination of ease & functionality. Having all the controls front and center is a real plus. Now I just need to get some new cookware that works better with the heat distribution of a gas burner.

Bought this Cooktop brand new and really unhappy and do not recommend. The cooking grates are too high up from the flame. Heat does not reach up even on full flame and therefore cooking takes a long time. Disappointed from the workmanship of such a recognized brand name - KitchenAid/Whirlpool. Would mention 0/5 rating !

I love my KitchenAid cooktop! The performance and quality of the cooktop itself equals that of my prior JennAir cooktop. We selected the cooktop because we were able to fit two extra large drawers beneath it in our new kitchen. Even our designer was surprised how much space we were able to create by going with the cooktop. And because it is built in it qualifies us for GST reimbursement! Check it out. You'll love it.

I bought this stove to replace a Jen Air unit. It looks and works fantastic but the left grate has a flaw in the casting making the pot/pan tilt toward the front of the stove. The difference in night between the front and back of this grate is about 1/4". I have contacted KitchenAid but have not heard back as of yet.

My old cooktop was fine, but I needed other new appliances. I so liked the look of the cooktop that I bought it to go with the other appliances even though, strictly speaking, I didn't need it. I like the versatility of the middle fifth burner, though I can't imagine ever using all five at once.

Recently moved into a brand new house with all KitchenAid appliances. This cooktop is just right for us. Previously had a gas range, and while I liked the gas cooktop, the oven was erratic and didn't hold temperature. So this time I just went with the cooktop. It's easier to clean than others because of how it's designed, which is a plus.
